My Morning Routine

If Morning routines set the tone for the entire day, why not just start Marvellously?

Morning rituals/routines are an amazing opportunity to take care of and nurture our health, well-being, and overall energy for the next 24 hours.

No matter if you are a morning person or a night owl (like my brothers), the good news is that everyone can use their morning routine to set the tone for the rest of the day!

So today, I thought I’d share my uplifting personal morning routine.


***Of course, travel (or just life) can ultimately shake my routine up a bit, but I try to stick to it as much as possible.

MY MORNING ROUTINE

7:35 am Wake up naturally or with my sunrise alarm clock with natural sounds. t’s so much nicer to wake up calm and refreshed with gentle light and calming sounds.

7:40 am Get out of bed, hit the restroom, brush my teeth, and clean my face.

Next, I have a glass of room temperature water (if I have a lemon, I’ll squeeze some in). I found out that my body just works better if I hydrate it first thing in the morning.

7:45 am I Meditate for around 20 - 25 minutes, usually a breath-focused Mindfulness Meditation or a "Counting the Breath" Zen Meditation, to help quiet and focus my mind first thing in the morning.


8:05 am It’s time to get active! I’ll start with a quick shaking exercise or a heart warm-up, involving stretches and getting my heart rate up, followed by some exercise. I love it!

Depending on my energy level and psychological mood I might choose my exercise session to be some dance aerobics, pop pilates/ fitness, or a yoga class.

All this time of activity leaves me feeling strong, balance, alive, and alert for the rest of the day.

08.55 am Breakfast time. Depending on what "I feel like having", breakfast can include: a bowl of fruit (remember that fruit is always on an empty stomach!); an Alkagizer (Green Smoothie with Spinach, Celery, Cucumber, Avocado, Kale... or any other veggie that I fancy); a hot soup; a big bowl of salad with some protein (eggs, salmon, codfish, tuna...) or just a Veggie and Protein-Rich Breakfast (e.g. a couple of egg muffins, a veggie egg wrap, a portion of an egg casserole).

After breakfast (and even during), I'll get some sun and relax (or dance depending on the mood) while listening to a piece of nice uplifting music with the message I want for the day! Some ideas being: I Believe in you by Michael Bublé; Brave by Sara Bareilles; Best Day of my Life by American Authors and Brighter Than The Sun by Colbie Caillat.


Then I’ll take my vitamins. Though I’m a huge advocate of getting vitamins and nutrients from real food, I’ve found that I function better with a little boost of vitamin C, D, or methylated vitamin B-Complex. I tend to rotate between them, but I do take them fairly regularly.

09:15 am. After that, my routine is complete. I feel energized, focused, strong, and ready to go through another AMAZING day!
